DARACEM® 19 LH

High range water reducing additive

Product description

DARACEM® 19 LH is a high range water reducer. It is an aqueous solution of a modified naphthalene sulfonate. It is a low viscosity liquid whose formula allows it to be used as received. Meets ASTM C494 Types A and F.

Main Advantages

  • DARACEM® 19 LH has the ability to produce a high slump flowable concrete without loss of strength;
  • DARACEM® 19 LH can generate concrete with a low water / cement ratio and consequently high strengths;
  • DARACEM®19 LH, in precast works, can be used to eliminate or reduce the high demand for external heat energy for acceleration of curing;
  • DARACEM® 19 LH does not significantly increase the setting time despite its high water reduction and has a minimal influence on the permanence of slump;
  • DARACEM® 19 LH is an aid for the rapid unloading of the mixer truck, reducing the working time and improving the use of the mixture.

Main Applications

DARACEM® 19 LH produces a concrete with high workability characteristics in flowable and high slump concretes. DARACEM® 19 LH also allows the production of concrete with a low water / cement ratio in low or normal slumps. DARACEM® 19 LH is ideal for line concretes with high fluidity, as a fluidizer on site or in any concrete where it is desired to maintain the minimum water / cement ratio and obtain the appropriate degree of workability to achieve easy placement and consolidation. DARACEM® 19 LH will also give concrete flowability making it ideal for placement with tremie tube (pile concrete) or other applications where high slump is required.

Recommended Dosages

The recommended dosage of DARACEM® 19 LH is from 0.4% to 2,0% on the weight of cement; preliminary testing is recommended to determine the optimal dosage. It depends on the components of the concrete mix, the working conditions and the desired performance characteristics. To better performance, DARACEM® 19 LH should be placed when the initial slump is at 40 mm. If dosages other than those listed are required, consult your GCP Applied Technologies technical representative.

Compatibility

In concrete with DARACEM® 19 LH the use of an air entrainer (DARAVAIR® or DAREX® II AEA) is recommended to create convenient vacuum parameters to achieve resistance against the effects of freezing or thawing if necessary. Most Type A water reducers and Type D water reducers / retarders are compatible with DARACEM® 19 LH as long as they are added to concrete separately.. Additives must be incorporated into the concrete separately. Tests should be carried out on the concretes produced with DARACEM® 19 LH and setting retardant, since excessive delays may occur if the doses used are too high. It is not compatible with additives from the ADVA® line.

Instructions for Use and Legal Responsibility

DARACEM® 19 LH admixture must be added at the end of the load in the fresh concrete along with the mixing water, and must not be put on the dry mix.
The DARACEM® 19 LH admixture is used outside of the technical recommendations, it can generate segregation of the concrete, so it is important to pay attention to the following points:

  • Carrying out preliminary laboratory and field tests to define doses according to the characteristics of the mixture to be applied. These preliminary tests must occur whenever there is any change in the raw materials used in the concrete;
  • Calibration and maintenance of additive measuring equipment in accordance with the current norm in the country;
  • Do not use DARACEM® 19 LH additive in combination with other brands of additives without prior technical consultation with a GCP Applied Technologies representative.
  • DARACEM® 19 LH can present crystal formations as long as it is exposed to temperatures below 5°C.

The DARACEM® 19 LH additive may lose its main performance functions if it is not stored in accordance with the point “Storage Recommendations”.
Any use of the DARACEM® 19 LH additive that is not contemplated in this technical sheet must be consulted in advance by a representative of GCP Applied Technologies.
The user must be careful, the containment barriers of the storage are in accordance with the recommendations of GCP Applied Technologies, to avoid inconveniences with the environmental organs.
